“PUTTING PEOPLE FIRST” is the message Susan wants to spread when it comes to her legislative efforts on behalf of her South Shore neighbors, as it is her number one work priority. Whether the issue is keeping taxes low, caring for seniors, ensuring affordable housing or protecting the environment, she will always think of you first before making a decision.
Currently serving as Assistant Minority Whip and Ranking Republican member of the House Committee on Steering, Policy & Scheduling, here are some of the important issues she is working on for you:
Keeping Taxes Low
Holding the line on tax increases so that our senior citizens and young families can afford to stay and choose to live in our communities, as a diverse neighborhood is a stronger one.
Caring for Seniors
Advocating for strong community connections to help senior citizens enjoy living in the communities in which they raised their families. Encouraging comprehensive prescription coverage and support for local Councils on Aging.
Ensuring Affordable Housing
Working to make changes to the existing Chapter 40B law to ensure that manufactured housing is considered towards the state mandated goal for cities and towns.
Protecting the Environment
Serving an appointed position on the Governor’s newly created Massachusetts Ocean Management Task Force to help preserve and protect our ocean resources for the enjoyment of generations to come. Wareham has more than 40 miles of beautiful coastline and it will take a concerted effort to keep it that way. Also contributes as a member of the Governor's committee charged with studying the effects of the 2003 Buzzards Bay oil spill. Susan also served as the Ranking Republican member of the Joint Committee on the Environment, Natural Resources & Agriculture for 12 years prior to her assignment as Assistant Minority Whip.
